Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers parties.

Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
